Competing in the 2005 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships over the May long weekend, the masters swim team from London captured 3rd place in the team standings amassing a total of 3,063 points. The swim meet attracted over 130 teams and 950 swimmers from across Canada aged 20 to 90 years old. Coached by Jay Nolan, the 48 swimmers from London brought home a total of 10 first place finishes including 4 national records.
Competing in the 25 to 29 year old age group, Johnny Hewerdine established a new national mark in the 1500 metre freestyle with a time of 16:35.9. Hewerdine also captured gold in the 200, 400 and 800 metre freestyles.
1972 Olympian Rob Stoddart established a new Canadian record in the 55 to 59 year old age group completing the 50 metre breaststroke in a time of 34.8 seconds. Stoddart also captured gold in the 50 and 100 Butterflys.
English channel swimmer, Bryan Finlay, swimming in the 60 to 64 year old age group, set a new national mark
