The Silver Dolphins were well represented at the Provincial Open Water Championships held on July 19th in Brights Grove. In the 3.0 KM race, Manny Pardo was the first male out of the water, won his 35 year old age group and set a new course record. On the ladies 3km side, Lisa Chin was the first person (male or female!) out of the water and also won her 25 year old age group. Chuck Grace was the first male out of the water on the 1.5 km course and also won his 50 year old age group. Marketa Myatt placed first in the ladies 30 year old age group over the same distance. In the men’s 65 year old age group, no one could catch Brian Finley as he swam the entire 3.0 kms doing Breaststroke! And swimming in her first race for the Dolphins, Cathy Urquhartwon the 1.5 km in the women’s 45 year old age group.
Needless to say, with that kind of talent in the water, the Dolphins defeated the Ducks for the 2nd straight provincial championship in 2008!
