Laps for Lives – August 9th: Relay for Children’s Health Foundation
Thursday, July 24, 2014
Dear Masters swimmer,
At the London Aquatic Club, all of us swimmers know that we are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to train and exercise on a daily basis. With this in mind, we realize that other children are not granted this same opportunity. We have decided to do something about this by coming together to host a fundraiser to support the Adaptive Fitness Centre at the Children’s Health Foundation here in London.
That is why we have decided to host a 12 hour swimming Relay for Life and fun activity day on August 9th from 7am-7pm at Thames Park Pool.
Masters swimmers are encouraged to swim on a team of 4 or more from either 7am-11am or 4pm-7pm. Each individual swimmer does not have to swim for the entire 3 hours: at least one person must be swimming from each team during that time. If you do not want to sign up as a team, you can also register as an individual, where you can sign up for a 30min-1hr time slot of your preference (contact Tessa Peerless at tessapeerless@gmail.com to organize your time slot).
The registration forms and pledge forms can be printed from the “Laps for Lives” website (http://lapsforlives.weebly.com/register.html), filled out and handed to Ken Fitzpatrick with the $25 registration fee. This fee (Cheques payable to Aitana Robinson) will cover the pool and lifeguard costs for the day. The registration deadline is July 13th, but please get your forms in to us as soon as possible.
Once registered, participants may begin to collect pledges, and can even make their own personal fundraising page on the “Children’s Health Foundation” Website (email Tessa Peerless for details: tessapeerless@gmail.com). Our goal is for each participant to raise $100 in pledges. All pledges must be collected by August 9th when the participant arrives at the event.
If you don’t want to swim, but still want to donate to this amazing event, you can sponsor the event online at http://childhealth.akaraisin.com/personalpages/044790b0a70c49abb5816e3b45a5f46f
We are also encouraging you to come out on the day (August 9th) to support all of the participants, and participate in the many fun activities happening throughout the day! You can bring your family, friends, and younger swimmers to join us for fun and games!
If you have any questions or concerns, please email tessapeerless@gmail.com, and I will be happy to answer any questions that you have.
Thank you so much for all of your consideration in this event, and I hope to see you there!
