Our History

The London Silver Dolphins Masters Swimming Club was founded in 1983 by current club member Chuck Grace. For the first few years, the membership was small and the club practiced at the London Y. At first, the club was coached on a volunteer basis. Membership increased in 1985 when the Masters World Games were held in Montreal.

The Canada Games Aquatic Centre opened in 1989. The club switched facilities and saw further membership growth. Increases in membership allowed the club to hire a coach in the early 1990’s. While membership peaked at over one hundred a few seasons ago, currently we have about eighty members. The Silver Dolphins accommodate a broad range of swimming skill levels, from novice Master to elite. We have hosted many Masters meets, including two Ontario Provincial Championships.

We are six time Ontario Masters Swimming Champions (2006-2008, 2010, 2013, 2014) and we won the Canadian Masters Swimming Championship for the first time in 2014.

London Silver Dolphin swimmers hold (or have held) Provincial, Canadian and World Masters swimming records. The London Silver Dolphins Masters Swimming Club is a non-profit organization, run by a volunteer executive.
